How to Give

MAKE A ONE-TIME GIFT

We invite you to consider making a one-time gift to the ASFPM Foundation. Whether large or small, you can rest assured that your investment in the ASFPM Foundation will contribute to the greater cause of effective management of the nation’s floodplains and watersheds. Your gift gives us the resources we need to fund education initiatives such as scholarships for students interested in floodplain management, research projects, development of tools and publications to help floodplain managers, and national policy initiatives like No Adverse Impact.

You can make an online contribution by clicking the button below.

CONSIDER PLANNED GIVING

Create a Floodplain Management Legacy

The Association of State Floodplain Managers (ASFPM) Foundation provides an excellent opportunity for you to demonstrate your commitment to creating and sustaining a legacy in floodplain management now, and for many years to come. Through the Floodplain Management Legacy Program, you can direct your contributions to programs that reflect your passion by:

  • Funding floodplain management and risk reduction research projects.
  • Providing education, training, and certification of floodplain professionals.
  • Supporting legislative and policy initiatives.

These are just a few ways in which you can tailor your contributions. We encourage you to reach out to Foundation trustees with your ideas and explore ways to help make them become a reality for a vital, sustainable future.

Planned giving through the Floodplain Management Legacy Program is a way for you to integrate your charitable gift into your overall financial, tax, and estate planning that results in benefits to you and to ASFPM Foundation. Depending on the path you choose, you may have the ability to:

  • Reduce your income tax.
  • Avoid or reduce capital gains tax.
  • Increase your spendable income.

It is never too soon to plan your charitable contributions that will solidify your Floodplain Management Legacy and further demonstrate your passion and commitment. You can:

  • Include a donation to ASFPM Foundation in your will or trust.
  • Set up a charitable gift annuity that can provide you, as the donor, an annual income. The remaining funds in the annuity would be transferred to ASFPM Foundation upon your death.
  • Use your donation to purchase a life insurance policy on yourself and name ASFPM Foundation as a beneficiary, or add the Foundation as a beneficiary to a current life insurance policy.

ASFPM Foundation encourages donors who are considering a contribution to seek their own legal and tax counsel before making a gift to the Foundation.

 What is AmazonSmile?

AmazonSmile is a website operated by Amazon that lets customers enjoy the same wide selection of products, low prices, and convenient shopping features as on Amazon.com. The difference is that when customers shop on AmazonSmile (smile.amazon.com), the AmazonSmile Foundation will donate 0.5% of the price of eligible purchases to the charitable organizations selected by customers.

Silent and Live Auctions

Silent and live auctions have been held annually at the ASFPM national conference. Each year attendees at the conference have the opportunity to bid on unique and valuable goods and services donated by local businesses, ASFPM chapters, states, corporate sponsors and individuals. All proceeds from the auctions help ASFPM Foundation to fund their scholarships and activities.

Due to the pandemic, ASFPM will be holding the ASFPM Virtual Conference on May 10-14, 2021. There will be no Silent or Live Auction this year. We look forward to seeing you all in person next May at the ASFPM Annual National Conference in Orlando, Florida.

LIVE AUCTION

The live auction is held each year during the Donor Appreciation Reception on Wednesday evening from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the ASFPM annual national conference. Items donated to the Live Auction are valued at $500 and up. Bidding is open to all invited guests and ticket holders attending the reception. Tickets may be purchased at a cost of $125 per person in advance of the event by contacting Suzanne Gillingham in the ASFPM office or at the Silent Auction booth.

Not a Silent/Live Auction Event ASFPM Foundation has historically hosted the Silent Auction, as well as the Donor Appreciation Reception with Live Auction, as part of the ASFPM Annual National Conference. That’s NOT happening this year. This year we are holding this Not a Silent/Live Auction Event.

We recognize that many of you look forward to the Silent Auction and Live Auction events. We do too. Frankly the two events are important to our ability to fund our mission. We enjoy being able to have fun and show appreciation to our donors by hosting the in-person events. This year we’re again taking a break since since large in-person events are still not an option for most people. And we look forward to hosting a Live Auction again at next year’s conference in Orlando.

Without further ado, here’s Jeff Sparrow, ASFPM Foundation Fundraising Committee Chair, who would like to say a few words: https://www.youtube.com/embed/7krvTguyEFc

Location: Your Couch
You cannot join us no matter where you are. Drinks and hors d’oeuvres will not be served starting around 7pm, and no one will take the microphone to give speeches at 7:30pm.

In case you’re confused:

neutral What?! Is there an auction or not? neutral

No. There is no silent or live auction this year. But we hope that people still choose to be generous even without one!

GET “TICKETS” – DONATE
Here are some suggested donations:

  • Instead of the Hurricane Glass bead donation, give $10
  • If you’re an introvert who is relieved not to have to make small talk at a social event, consider giving $25 (or more depending on how relieved you are)
  • If you’ve previously donated items to the Silent Auction, give $35
  • If you’ve bid on items for the Silent Auction, give $50
  • If you’ve bid on bourbon at the auctions, give $75
  • If you usually purchase a ticket to the Donor Appreciation Reception and Live Auction, give $100
  • Instead of bidding on a Live Auction item, give $250
  • Instead of wracking your brains to come up with a package to donate for the Live Auction, why not give $1,000?
  • Or consider giving a portion of what you would normally have spent on airfare, hotel, dinners or drinks

The great news is that because we don’t have to pay for space or to serve our guests food and beverages, 100% of the donations will go directly to Foundation activities, like the Future Leaders ScholarshipStudent Paper CompetitionRISE Challenge (formerly the Rocky Mountain Environmental Challenge) and the Urban Flooding Summit to name a few.
